This story is similar to the story about those who are given the mark without their approval, only this story will apply to those who use some PRELIMINARY form of the mark. For example, the National ID card is due to be released in 2008. This is a clear step toward the system of antichrist. While it is NOT the mark of the beast, it is another clear baby step in that direction. Some will say years later (after the card, for example, has been widely embraced), “It’s too late for you because you’ve already been using the system—an early form of the mark—for years.” Actually, some are already saying this at this juncture (2006) given present-day manifestations of the one-world monetary system!
Response: DON’T BELIEVE IT - BE BIBLICALLY SKEPTICAL. The worship of the beast of Revelation 13 is included in the reception of the “mark.” Using a preliminary form of the system is NOT receiving the mark! BUT, the day will come when the other prophetic passages—those clearly marking the general time or setting of the system of antichrist—will be clear to those who know the Word. And it’s at that time when the “mark” of the satanic system cannot, indeed must not, be taken.

The Wilson family had been using the National ID card for years, but it had come to the place where they had a decision to make. Here’s the scoop.
Don was fine with taking the next step in this migration to a one-world alliance beyond war by showing allegiance to the established leaders who were now asking the members of planet earth to take one more step in order to instate the global federation. “All they’re asking,” Don said to his daughter, Rachel, “is that we transfer this card to our person—either on our right hands or foreheads. What’s the problem with that? After all, it’s invisible* and, (in a tone of clear sarcasm) surely won’t have any adverse effect on your beautiful appearance.”
Rachel, with tears in her eyes, whispered in response, “Dad, I can’t.” “What do you mean, you can’t?” Don barked back. “I can’t take this next step because the Bible clearly tells us we can’t. If you’re sincerely what you say you are—a Christian—then, dad, you can’t take this mark either.”
“OUT OF MY HOUSE, NOW! We’ve talked about this long enough! Actually, it’s too late for all of us—you included—because we’ve all been using this mark for years. This on-our-person mark is simply the next evolutionary step toward a united planet where we no longer have to worry about war, terrorism, identity theft, etc. Why can’t you see this!”
Without a verbal counter, Rachel and her older brother, Thomas, prepared to leave. Misty, Don’s wife and step-mother to Rachel and Tom, was crying as they packed a few belongings before heading out the door. “We love you mom,” Rachel told Misty. “I love you too, and I do see why you’re both firm in your decision to reject this mark.” “Then why aren’t you coming too?” Tom said softly. “I … I just can’t. I’m committed to your father” was Misty’s reply. “You …” Don interrupted Rachel before she could finish, pointed outside, and said, “I’m not going to tell you again!” The anger in his face prompted immediate response.
With that, Tom and Rachel left, giving up a comfortable home with many amenities, only to find the rest of their lives, as brief as they were, suffering great hardship and pain. But it didn’t last. For shortly thereafter Jesus Christ returned and escorted them to a glorious new home, only to find a thousand years later that they were moving one last time—into the New Jerusalem where their Lord Jesus had made a place for them. Tony and April (Tom’s and Rachel’s younger brother and sister) and Misty and Don, on the other hand, found their day of accounting to be horrific beyond description. After answering the LORD’s question concerning why they had taken the mark and seeing their names were not in the Lamb's Book of Life, He then went on to point to their eternal home outside … the Lake of Fire.
* The mark of the beast may or may not be invisible, we do not have those specific details. What we do know are the facts revealed in God’s Word, the Bible. So go ahead, take a risk, make a wise move and begin reading this Book which unveils the final chapter of humanity before the thousand-year reign of Jesus Christ.

The eternal state of the disobedient members of the Wilson family cannot be adequately described. Jesus Christ brought an early introductory description when He revealed, through an angel, “… If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehand or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints; here are those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.” (Rev. 14:9-12; NKJV)
Please understand, those who yield and take the soon-coming mark of the beast will not stand in the judgment. God’s Word clearly warns: those who take the mark will be thrown into the Lake of Fire where they will spend eternity (Revelation 13 & 14). It’s NOT WORTH the compromise, even though the penalty from the world for refusing to take the mark will be heavy. But it’s so temporary if we maintain God’s True perspective—especially in light of eternity being what it actually is—a very long, never-ending time!
The mark of the beast is being preceded by early manifestations of the mark. These early stages are not the “mark.” Do not heed the false teaching of those who say, "It’s too late for you because you’ve been wearing the mark/in the system for years." The "mark" is the act of receiving a literal mark on the right hand or forehead and takes place in the context of other clear indicators). Those who will bring this charge (e.g., the accusation that one bears the mark by using early manifestations of the mark - like the National ID card) are deceivers bearing eternally consequential instruction. The mark of the beast is not implemented until the other events of Revelation 13 also begin occurring. It’s at this time when we must not take the next step and receive the mark. It’s a good time to reread—carefully—the details of Revelation. Once again, what a day in which to live!
